Stonehaven - Sewer Works

The much talked about new sewer pipe that was installed from Findon to Stonehaven, had a section that was to go through the beach walkway.  We were involved in the reinstatement of the concrete once the new sewer pipe was laid.  We had to lay reinforced mesh then 6-8" deep concrete which was then floated out to leave a smooth surface level with the existing concrete. 

One of the main problems was keeping the general public clear of the area.  Vandalism was also a problem but we put up a security fencing around each stretch of new concrete until it had set.  Once the area was swept clean, and the beach areas tidied the areas were re-opened.

Retention basin constructed to retain excess gully water from the housing development.  Our project was to construct headwalls at the inlet and outlet pipes.  A wooden frame was formed around the pipes then concrete poured in. The concrete was then "pokered" to release any air pockets and clean stones placed randomly into the concrete walls to produce a visually attractive finish to concrete and pipes.

We were require to expose a manhole ring, build blockwork to house a manhole frame and cover, then backfill, compact and level the surrounding sub base road.
