well after the snow and frost what a state the gardens are in,the lawns are all flat and lost its green, the ground is drenched and there not a bit of colour anywhere, dont dispair spring is round the corner. The garden is looking as bad as it will ever be things can only get better. The lawn best plan stay off it just now the walking you do on it the worst it will get,the problem the water has no were to go but sit on the surface thus making it really hard for the grass to breathe so once you see signs of the grass drying up like a few dry days with some wind or when the cat comes in there no wet footprints, then get out there with the fork and open up the surace on your lawn again, using the fork to penatrate the top 4to5inch of the lawn surface now this is a hard job for the seasoned office worker so allow couple of weekends for this to do the job right, then in no time the grass will slowly start to recover. Now the time to get out and prune back all the over grown shrubs and annual plants, cutting back to shape,or just cutting back away from paths, doors and windows. The annuals just need cleared away to the ground surface that will be fine all the good stuff under the soil. And when spring comes the garden will love you for it.
